4. Registration

Q1: Why doesn't my old license key work with the latest version of Cerberus FTP Server?

License keys issued for Cerberus FTP Server 2.XX will not work with the new 3.0 version. Eligible users will need a new license key.

We will be sending out new registration information to everyone eligible when 3.0 is officially released. If you purchased a license for Cerberus FTP Server 2.XX within one year of the official release date of Cerberus FTP Server 3.0 then you will receive a new 3.0 key for free.

Note, those that purchased two year upgrade protection will receive a free license key for 3.0 if they have purchased a license key within 2 years of the official 3.0 release date.

Q2: I am using Cerberus FTP Server for personal use. Why does the "UNREGISTERED" text appear in the welcome message?

If you are using Cerberus for personal use only, you may continue to do so without requiring a license key. The "UNREGISTERED" text will still appear in the welcome message. Only licensed versions of Cerberus FTP Server do not display the "UNREGISTERED" welcome message. If you would like to get rid of the "UNREGISTERED" message in the welcome screen, you may purchase a license key. Otherwise, if you qualify for a personal use exemption you are free to continue to use Cerberus FTP Server for personal use indefinitely.

NOTE: Unlicensed versions of Cerberus FTP Server will function as a Personal edition after the 30 day trial period has expired.
