When installed as a service, you can achieve the same using:
net start "Cerberus FTP Server"
net stop "Cerberus FTP Server"
Will that do what you need to do?

Odds and ends

Installed the new Beta - still problems with the installer or problems inherited from earlier installations (I removed 4(!) instances of Cerberus in the Add/Remove programs applet before I finally got it right), but I will let it ride until the new install kit is included! :-) I think I finally got ...

I have seen this with other port number too, and it coincided exactly with the period I had the "Deny FXP" feature turned on.

Yes, thanks that all makes a lot of sense, but (there is always a but) do you remember the security scan log I sent you? It claimed there was a security issue with the PORT command, and you advised me to turn on the "Deny FXP" option. I did that, but then download broke! Extract from the log: (Times...

FXP

Odd... I am sure I posted something here a few days ago... Perhaps I forgot to press submit... Must be getting old...

Here goes again: Grant, could you please elaborate a bit on the "Deny FXP Transfer" feature?

I could be wrong, but I think he wants to post binary chunks in the forum, you know, "warez" and stuff, and use the forum as a storage facility.

OK, I see the point with the uninstaller. The trouble is, I don't feel comfortable uninstalling the program! I am always afraid to loose the current configuration. In my book, a good uninstaller cleans up _everything_ including all registry keys, and I don't want that... But let's see how the new in...

Of course, it cannot replace the executable while it is running, fair enough, but I seem to recall that it was earlier capable of stopping the service while installing - or am I wrong? - and isn't it a simple thing to have the installation do? Stop the service, install, restart the service. And if t...

Much better thanks, now I could install over the BETA2. However, it still asked me to reboot. (I am running W2K server.) When I installed, the BETA2 was running. After the installation, the BETA2 was still running, but when I stopped the service and started it again, it was the 2.11 release version....

Installation error

Probably a minor thing... I just tried to install 2.11 over 2.11BETA, and the installer claims that it can't, because a newer version is already installed. What do I do? I haven't tried to uninstall the BETA first, I think that I should be able to do a "clean" install over the BETA. A small note: Wh...

Extra Security - and memory leak.

Hi everyone, I have another little tale to tell: On December 18, I experienced an attack on my FTP (2.11BETA). Someone (68.147.26.96) launched a program attempting to logon to my FTP server using every boy and girl name in the english language, plus a lot more. It was probably trying with the empty ...

Actually, Tiny Personal Firewall is now continued as Kerio Personal Firewall. They have made a few improvements to it already, but nothing serious for over a year now. I have experienced problems with Kerio on a Windows 2000 Server running 24-7 (it BSOD'ed once a day), so that server is now running ...

I have a few comments on several postings, so hang on: fabzec Aug 13 3:36pm Just checking, you did notice, that port 20 should be open for OUTGOING connections? FTP creates a connection FROM port 20 (non-passive) to any given port on the client which must be configured correctly, if using a firewall...
