I have a client who wants to edit their site using Contribute. We have updated both the Cerberus Software, Dreamweaver used to enable the site for Contribute and Contribute and we receive the following error, Contribute cannot verify your connection information.
What is the trick to get Contribute and Cerberus FTP to work together?
Thank you,March 29, 2010 at 3:06 pm #35606
It could be any number of issues. Could you post the Cerberus log showing the connection attempt? Do you see the connection attempt in the Cerberus log file?April 29, 2010 at 3:06 pm #35607
I’m having the same issue; seemingly since the upgrade to the latest version.
I either get an access denied message, or if I use a different account, same settings I get this
Changing Directory To: / SUCCESS!
Directory Listing Test: SUCCESS!
Make Directory Test: The server is unable to create a directory. Please verify that you have sufficient permissions to create a directory.
FTP log from the last operation
> CWD /
< 250 Change directory ok > MKD mm_diagnose_tu3ag
< 500 User does not have permission You would think that sounds pretty straight forward and its a permissions issue, but no; the user id and password can login and create/delete anything via an FTP client. I have worked on this issue for several hours yesterday and again this morning. I dont mean to tap myself on the back but I think I’m getting closer to saying for sure this is a problem with the latest version 3.1.4 (64bit)April 29, 2010 at 3:21 pm #35608
so as a final test I uninstalled the newest version and reverted to 2.5 and it works fine! same user id and password/directory etc.
Please confirm this is an issue and any time line on when it may be resolved would be greatly appreciated as i’m now scrambling to find a solution for the interim so clients can edit their sites still.April 29, 2010 at 4:43 pm #35609
Is your user a Cerberus user or an Active Directory authenticated user?April 29, 2010 at 5:32 pm #35610Serin wrote:

Just a basic user, no ADApril 29, 2010 at 6:06 pm #35611
Ok, a couple more questions.
Is the user using Simple Directory mode or not? I see that the user is trying to create a directory off of the root. If you are not using Simple Directory mode then the “/” doesn’t physically map to any directory and the permissions for “/” are set to none.
Are you running Cerberus FTP Server as a Windows Service?April 29, 2010 at 6:07 pm #35612
Can you send me an email at
I would like to request a file from you for examination.August 28, 2012 at 10:11 am #35613mhardy9Participant
We have just installed Cerberus and I’m having some issues connecting to the site via Contribute as well. I was wondering if there was a work-around for issues between Contribute & Cerberus, or if I should just give it up as another SFTP server that Contribute will not connect to.August 28, 2012 at 2:01 pm #35614 Hello,
Can you post a log file showing a connection attempt? It might be something simpler than an incompatibility. We don’t test against Contribute, but SFTP support in Cerberus has come a long way since this post was first written.
