I noticed a strange thing: after updating from 2.50 to version 3.0.8.1 I can not login to my account any more. I tried to change the pasword in the user account manager and yep, it works again!

Is there a problem when using special characters in passwords? I did not manage to log in using either Firefox nor a dedicated FTP client.

    Hello,

Special characters should be supported just fine in Cerberus. Did the new password have special characters and work?

The new password just contained letters and numbers, no special characters. If I use a password that contains one of the characters: ä, ö, ü I can not login any more. Maybe it is an encoding problem?

I will investigate the conversion code but I did a quick test with the current version of Cerberus FTP Server and used the “ä” character in a password without issue. Perhaps it was an encoding problem when the settings were upgraded from 2.50, but hopefully you aren’t having issues with new passwords.

Just in case this may help:

I encountered the following using Cerberus FTP server 3.0.8:

It does work using Windows XP SP3 32 bit

It does NOT work under Windows 7 64 bit

    correction:

It DOES work under Windows 7 64 bit when using a webbrowser like IE8 or Firefox 3.54

It does NOT work when using a dedicated FTP client like SmartFTP or FlashFXP

So I guess it’s not a problem with Cerberus FTP server

That makes sense. Some clients might not be sending the command strings in UTF-8. They are probably converting to ANSI or the native command set and messing up the characters.
