This is a common error that I am getting. After I click cancel and try again it will then list the directory. The user is given all rights to the directory. Simple Directories is set to true. Here is the log from the client using CuteFTP. Some FTP programs don’t work at all. I have also included the coresponding server log. I’ve included the server info at the bottom.

    Hello,

This is not a bug, but rather an incorrectly configured server (and in some cases, client).

The client you are sometimes using is sending your local address to the server for the return connection. This won’t work as a local address cannot be seen by a server that isn’t on the same network. The client should be sending its router address in the PORT command, and the router needs to have port forwarding enabled.

Alternatively, you can get around this problem by correctly configuring Cerberus FTP Server for Passive mode and telling clients to connect only using passive. You can find detailed instructions on how to configure Cerberus FTP Server for this mode by looking in the help file, but I will elaborate a little below.

Basically, you have to make sure the router your FTP server is behind is forwarding all of the ports specified for Passive mode to your FTP server. This is called “port forwarding.” You can check and configure what ports Cerberus is using by looking under the Advanced tab of the Server manager, “PASV port range.”

Then, make sure you check “Detect WAN IP at startup” from the General tab of the Server Manager. Shutdown Cerberus and start it back up.
