Upgrade from Version 7.0.4.1 to latest v8

Hello,

We are planning on upgrading from Cerberus FTP Version 7.0.4.1 to the latest v8 server and we are just trying to make sure we have everything setup before we push it out.

With our current license key will we need a new license key to activate v8?

Are there any security changes we need to be aware of before we push this out that might interfere with our clients connecting?

I know we can do a backup of all our users/settings and we’ll make sure of that but we’re just worried something may have changed since we got this back in 2014 that could potentially mess with how our clients connect to the server.

Also does anyone have any tips on setting up a test environment for Cerberus? I’m new in the IT community and only been working at my current job for 2.5 months and was asked to look into this upgrade for our Cerberus Server. I’m just trying to figure out if there’s a way I can setup a test environment (either directly on my laptop or through a VM server) where I can install the latest version and play with it a little bit to check everything out before we shove it out the door.
