"An existing connection was forcibly closed by..."

Post by MainMa » Sat Jan 06, 2007 12:20 pm

I have two computers linked through the local network. After that I were unable to use a server installed on one computer, I installed Cerberus FTP Server on both computers ; when I access the computer A from the computer B, all works fine, but I cannot access B from A...

In fact, when I try to connect to B, connection fails (with Anonymous account as with my own account with a password), and I see in server logs:

"An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host"

What does it mean?

Make sure that if your FTP client is attempting to connect in PASV mode (Internet Explorer default) you need to go to Configuration > Interfaces > [your server's internal IP]

Where it says PASV options you need to select "Use a different IP for PASV command" and enter in your INTERNAL IP address. Note that this will make it impossible for people outside your LAN to connect to your FTP via PASV mode, but it will work internally.

Hope that works,
