User and File Report generates SQL Error

Post by Steve.H » Wed Jun 08, 2016 10:06 am

When I try to run the User and File Report, if I leave the User name field blank (I was hoping for all users), the report generates with no data, and throws a SQL Error in the log.

2016/06/08 09:55:46 SQL Error - [07002, 0] : [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]COUNT field incorrect or syntax error

It works fine as long as I put in a User name, but it doesn't require a User name, though the underlying query does.

Hello Steve,

Are you running the latest 8.0.2 or 8.0.3 release?

What driver did you select for your report? You may want to install the ODBC driver 11 for SQL Server. If you are using SQL server you will want to install and use that driver.

We are on 8.0.2.

I currently have the database set up thusly:
Driver: SQL Server
Database Name: cerberus_stats
Database Server: SQL2012 Server Name
Database User: dbusername
Database Password: *************

The "Connect" button tests successfully and it works to collect stats.

If I change Driver to "SQL Server Native Client 11.0" my only options under Version are "LocalDB 2012" and "LocalDB 2014", with options for DB Name and Path.

I don't see how to connect to my 2012 server with anything but the "SQL Server" driver.

It sounds like you are using SQL Server2012.
You may want to install the ODBC driver 11 for SQL Server. If you are using SQL server you will want to install and use that driver.
You will need to download the above mentioned driver and install it.

There's a link to it on our Reporting page:

https://www.cerberusftp.com/support/hel ... ation.html

Under the section Selecting a Database. I highly recommend switching to that driver.

Ah. I installed the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 (Version 2011.110.3000.00) from an ISO of a SQL Enterprise install. I now see the bold text in the middle of the brown box under the 3. is a link, not just bold text. I installed that and now the report works as expected.

Thanks.
