Associate FTP with PHP authentication

Post by MainMa » Sat Jan 06, 2007 11:31 am

I have a next problem:

I have a website with few users, who must enter their username and password to authenticate. The password is stored in MySQL database, and is encrypted with SHA1, so I am unable to see the original password of the user, but only the encoded item.

I want to provide to the users the possibility to upload files with FTP so that the other users would be able to access those files through my website. Each user will have it's own shared folder and will be able to upload, rename and remove files.

The file access is easy, but I have no idea about the using of MySQL usernames and passwords in Cerberus FTP Server. Is there a way to do it?

(I think about two ways: (1.) to query MySQL directly from Cerberus FTP Server, and (2.) to send from Cerberus FTP Server to an extern executable a username and a password, and then receive 0 for Login failure or 1 for Success ; is it possible to do ?)

Cerberus FTP Server does not currently support generic MySQL authentication for user names and passwords.
