Connection issue when using static ip on local network

Post by jparouty » Wed Apr 08, 2009 8:13 am

I have been using cerberus for several years successfully, but always had the machine running the server (behind a router) get its ip address via dhcp. I want to change the server's ip address to be a static address, and I can't make it work. I don't use the default port 21 for security purposes, instead i use port 28. Anyway, port 28 is forwarded properly on the router, and so is the range of PASV ports (5010-5020). This all used to work before I changed the server's ip to static. I have the check box for 'use a different ip address for pasv commands' and the ip is set to my wan ip provided by my isp, which luckily doesn't seem to ever change. Any suggestions?

It depends on what/how/where it is failing. Perhaps this FAQ holds the answer? http://www.cerberusftp.com/faq/troubleshooting.html#Q3

i solved my problem, which was not related to cerberus at all. When changing the ip address of my machine to static i omitted to specify the address of the gateway, that's why it would work on my lan and not from the outside. Duh!
