Installer Error Code 2755

Post by twib388 » Sun Oct 10, 2004 3:02 pm

I attempted installation against windows XP by opening CerberusInstall.msi after downloading and unzipping. After the preliminaries when installation is suppose to begin, I get "Cannot open device or file specified". The "Try Again" button has no effect. Final message: "Installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. this may indicate a problem with the package. Error code 2755.

I downloaded the package again. Same result.

downloaded release 2.22

do you installing over an older version of cerberus? while setup, the installer tries to uninstall the old version - if you overwrite the old installer files with the new ones, it is impossible to uninstall the old version.

hope this helps,
renke

I have found that the best way to upgrade is to uninstall the old version first, and then install the new one. When uninstalling, Cerberus will ask, if you are uninstalling for good, or if you just want to upgrade and keep the registry settings, which includes the user base. If you make sure you answer this question correctly, you are fine. Serin, I have not tried it, but have you made sure that you have put at least 3 confirmation boxes on the option deleting the registry content? (An "Are you sure?", "Are you ABSOLUTELY sure?", and finally a "Say please!" box should be appropriate.)
