Unable to mkdir

Post by russ_ray » Wed Mar 30, 2005 10:01 am

I am hoping someone can help me, please?

I am trying to simply create a directory on the server side. When I ftp to the server, I run the command

Code: Select all

mkdir \directory_name
However, I am getting an error
500 Invalid Path
I do not know if I have the server setup properly nor do I understand this error message.

Thank you in advance.

If you are using simple directories for the user, this should be possible, but if you do not use simple directories, the user will have to enter a directory first, and then a mkdir (without the '\') should be possible - provided the user have the necessary rights. This is because when not using simple directories, the root is "virtual". It is not a real directory, only an artifical parent for the directories added to this "virtual root", and therefore, it is not possible to create directories in it.
