Port settings And Upload Speed

Post by mr2bad » Sat Jun 11, 2005 10:34 am

Hi, my isp is blocking port 21 so i set the ftp server to connect trough port 81. however, when i of n on the server, it changes back to port 21. can i make a permanent change or do i have to just deal with it?

Other than that, i'm also experiencing a very slow upload speed. i have a 1mbps d/l n 512kbps u/l speed but i can only upload at somewhere around 5kB/s whereelse when i try uploading trough bit torrent, i can upload at around 40 kB/s.. Is there anyway to change this settings?

When, exactly, does the port change back? When you get a new local IP from your DHCP server? If so, you probably just need to change the "Default" interface to port 81 in the Interfaces tab of the server manager.

I doubt the server is the reason that your uploads are only 5KB/s. There has to be something else going on. Unless you've changed the default send and receive buffers on the 'Advanced' tab of the server manager to something strange. Generally, 32768 is a good number for both.
