i've had the same troubles. neither FireFTP nor the Bookmarks Synchronizer seem to be putting/getting files from the server. It responds with a disconnect upon file transfer, and I'm not getting a LIST back from the GUI client.

Can you post a log file from Cerberus FTP Server showing the problem? Please turn on full logging.

There is a known issue between Cerberus FTP Server and Firefox regarding listing files. Sometime you need to click the Firefox refresh button when changing a directory to get the listing to appear. It is currently unknown whether this is a Firefox or Cerberus FTP Server issue. On one hand, it appears Firefox only has this trouble with Cerberus. On the the other, every other browser and client seem to work fine with Cerberus.

Hi friends,

just played around with Cerberus for some hours now. It's perfectly working through a NAT router and firewall now.

The only problem that's left is with Firefox. I have latest version 1.5.0.1 installed and also latest Cerberus v2.4 Beta 1.
Version 2.4 BETA 1 notes -- 11/20/2005

- Fixed a DDoS bug
- Added explicit TLS/SSL support
- Fixed an incompatibility with Firefox that resulted in directory contents sometimes not being shown in Firefox
- Improved web services support
- New file logging system based on log4cxx (work in progress)
For me Firefox never shows the content of a folder, just a blank page and an error message in Cerberus ('Unable to open file: Access denied'). Even refreshing several times does not help.

This seems to be a problem with new Firefox 1.5...

Cerberus FTP 2.4 Beta 1

- Firefox 1.0.7: after one refresh, the content of a folder is being shown
- Firefox 1.5.0.1: content is never being shown, does not matter how often I press refresh...

Seems that something changed in Firefox 1.5.0.1 (resp. 1.5) which makes it completely useless as a client for Cerberus FTP.

Login on Cerberus with Firefox

Post by user » Thu Mar 02, 2006 9:40 am

Use the following Sequence for correct Login on Cerberus over Firefox.

http://username:password@ftp-server-address

Substitute the Dummy-Text(username,...) with the correct Userdata and Serveradress.

After Login, you might have to reload the Internetpage in the Browser - press F5 or the RELOAD-Button.(maybe you have to do this on every site you visit in this session).

Good Luck and fun with Cerberus

I too am having issues with Firefox as a client.

As other clients are getting in fine we can assume it is not a ports/firewall/router issue.

It seems that Firefox has issues with folders that have subfolders.

Try adding a single virtual directory in Cerberus. make sure that the directory only contains files and no sub-folders/sub-directories.

Firefox should connect and be able to display contents.

repeat the process, but create a sub-folder in the virtual directory and Firefox fails.

I'm not sure why Firefox can't display sub-folders from the Cerberus FTP server. It does work with other FTP server products (....but they are not Freeware like Cerberus, and I like to use software legally:)

maybe this will shed some light on it? NOTE: traffic is being natted between the two hosts, if that is related.

It only shows, what is already known, actually. Firefox is trying to retrieve directories ("RETR /" and "RETR /private"), which is not possible. IE does not do the same (instead it "CWD /private" and "LIST", which is the correct way). I have not studied the RFC in detail, but my guess is that what Firefox is doing is not allowed, and so Cerberus rejects it. Perhaps Serin can confirm once and for all, that this is not part of the protocol?

There isn't much we can do to help without you posting the Cerberus log file showing the problem.

How can I get web icons on my desktop to link to Safari and not Firefox? On my desktop it has links to my favorite websites. When I open them up they open to Firefox and not Safari web browser. The thing I set Safari is my default internet browser on 'Program Access and Defaults' and Firefox is just another one I use. So WHY is it opening them in Firefox and not my default web browser Safari. How can I change this?

Hello,

I'm sorry but this has nothing to do with Cerberus FTP Server. Please direct your inquiry to a more appropriate forum.
