Cerberus by Redwood version 2026.2 focuses heavily on improving the daily experience for administrators and end users who live on our platform every single day. This release delivers essential enhancements and fixes designed specifically to remove friction and enhance overall security by streamlining automation workflows, refining the web client experience and implementing proactive security remediations for a more polished, resilient and user-friendly platform.

What’s new?

Proactive security remediations and core updates

Keeping your data secure is our continuous priority. In this release, we have permanently disabled outdated 64-bit TLS CCM8 cipher suites to guarantee your file transfers rely only on the most secure, modern encryption standards. Additionally, we’ve upgraded vital background libraries (specifically CanvasJS, gSOAP and OpenSSL) to address recent vulnerabilities (such as CVE-2024-4227 and CVE-2026-31789, among others) to keep your environment resilient and secure.

Streamlined public sharing with Welcome screen bypass

Admins can now set up the option to bypass the manual Welcome screen for public share links. This removes a layer of friction for end users and allows programmatic tools to interact with public shares. You can configure this in Server Manager → Listeners by checking or unchecking the “Show Welcome Message” and “Require Welcome Acknowledgment” boxes.

Clearer disaster recovery management

For organizations running multiple Cerberus servers, the license page now clearly identifies which specific server acts as your backup/Disaster Recovery (DR) server, helping Cerberus administrators keep track of their environments without second-guessing their configurations.

Fix for web client click UI

We’ve refined the click behavior in the web client so that selecting a file row will no longer cause an accidental download. Now, the download will occur only when the filename link itself is clicked, reducing friction for end users navigating large directories.
