One of the more common requests we’ve received from customers since the introduction of version 11.0 is to reduce the amount of scrolling needed to administer users and groups. Vertical screen real estate tends to be at a premium. The top-down arrangement of the users list and user details leads to a lot of scrolling when editing or reviewing multiple native users at a time. Some customers have told us they dislike this layout.
In addition, users and groups table paging can sometime lead to excessive searching and paging to find the user or group account the administrator is interested in.
What’s changed
We’ve developed a new horiztonal layout to address some of these concerns:
Switching to a side-by-side users list and user details layout enables administrators to reduce the amount of scrolling and clicking needed when selecting user accounts. We’ve also removed the paging on the users and groups table in favor of a single, continuous list of accounts. This should make searching through the list quicker since we’ve removed the need to move between pages.
We understand that not everyone may like this change. For those administrators that are used to and prefer the original, top-down layout, there’s a simple toggle button on the top-right corner to switch back and forth between the two layouts.
Finally, we’ve also given the Groups page the same treatment. You can easily administer Groups using the new, horizontal layout, or revert to the original top-down vertical layout.
